The VPX3-716 is an industry leading high performance graphics controller offering the latest AMD E8860 embedded discrete GPU technology with up to six independent outputs, 2 GB of dedicated video memory, H.264 motion video decoders and an XMC expansion site.

Embedded GPUs, even when down clocked, often generate more heat than can be reasonably cooled from a non-carrier card mezzanine site.  A full card solution is needed to fully utilize the state of the art Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) capabilities within a rugged system.

The VPX3-716 3U OpenVPX Graphics Processor card addresses and exceeds this need by also providing an expansion mezzanine site to integrate high resolution and high channel count video with the flexibility of selecting the interface types suitable to the end application. A unique feature of this mezzanine site is the option to route up to two GPU outputs directly to it to provide the capability for additional custom video outputs. Curtiss-Wright will continue to build on this modular platform to provide cost effective high density graphics and video processing solutions.

Software support for the VPX3-716 in x86 platforms is through AMD’s commercially available Catalyst/Radeon™ Linux and Windows drivers for OpenGL 4.2, DirectX® 11.1, OpenCL™ and DirectCompute. AMD provide a full suite of OpenCL development tools including profilers, analyzers, debuggers and language bindings.

Real Time Operating System (RTOS) support, like Wind River VxWorks for Power Architecture and Intel platforms will be available offering support for OpenGL 1.3, OpenGL SC, OpenGL ES 1.x and OpenGL ES 2.0 APIs along with support for the Universal Video Decoders, and a separate OpenCL driver.

The VPX3-716 is safety certifiable with FAA DO-178C/EASA ED-12C supported up to level A directly by our partner. Contact factory for board level DO-254 and higher DAL information.
